We intend to keep working in Swordle Bay for a number of seasons, alongside conducting post-excavation analyses of all the sites we have dug so far. We want to finish our various surveys and to locate any sites that will help us answer our research questions. We are particularly interested in finding evidence for domestic occupation from all periods up to the 19th century. Can we put our extensive funerary evidence in context? We are very interested in thinking about how people, things, landscapes, places, monuments, architecture, animals and plants produce different kinds of ways of living through time, what these have in common with each other and how this changes through time. By thinking about the long-term histories of these relationships we can develop new understandings of why it was that this particular landscape attracted all this incredible activity over thousands of years.
